About Phillips Seeds Ltd.
The business was started by Matthew Phillips who prior to starting Phillips Seeds had worked in the wholesale seed industry marketing new and established varieties for 13 years. He started his time in the seed industry at Sharpes International in Sleaford as the protein crops product manager.
Matthew has since been joined by Andrew Bell to help develop the joint Venture, and with him he brings 22 years experience of grain and seed trading. Andrew has been a director of a local independent merchanting business and is keen to impress to farmer clients that Phillips Seeds Ltd offer a service and flexibility that is associated with a young independent business.
The business has recently entered in to a joint venture with J Dawson & Sons who are a long established (c1830) independent grain trading business based in East Yorkshire.
The intention of the venture is that we are now able to utilise J Dawson & Sons extensive marketing agreements with all the local millers, maltsters, crushers and export/home facilities and therefore we can now buy all combinable crop produce from the farm.
Our two businesses have been working closely together for some time on seed and this new venture is a natural progression. We aim to offer farmer clients an alternative market outlet for their crop production.
Our aim is to deliver added value to British Agriculture via a close association with all end consumers and international seed breeders through the innovation of new seed varieties, marketing ideas and service.
